Club Notes 21st May 2023
Westlink Coaches U15 Division 1 League Final:
On Monday 15th May our Rinn Gaels U15 team played St Mary's in Páirc Seán in the Division 1 League Final. Everyone was aware before the game of the huge challenge that faced our boys going into this game with St Mary's boosting a far superior physically stronger team and an obvious abundance of players to pick from. Regardless, our boys bravely faced the challenge and gave it their all.
Rinn Gaels tried hard to breach the defence of St Mary's but struggled against their physicality. St. Mary's held the lead at half time, 2-10 to 1-02. In the second half our boys tried everything and gave it their best but again struggled against a physically stronger and more athletic side. Unfortunately, our boys came out on the wrong side of a final scoreline of 2-15 to 1-06.
Congratulations to this Rinn Gaels team. These boys have performed excellently all year. They have continued to improve, having competed with the best in the county and topped the league. Making it the Division 1 final has been a huge achievement. Their consistency has also been evident with them winning the Division 1 Under 15 Féile competition which will see these boys proudly go on to represent Leitrim later in the Summer. They will look forward to the championship with confidence and hope to continue to improve as they have done so far this year.
Well done to all the lads and keep up the good work.
Masonite All County League Div 3:
We got our league campaign off to a winning start last weekend against Cloone in the first round. A good display of football all over the field with Gortletteragh proving the much stronger side on the day. Final score Gortletteragh 2-17, Cloone 1-04. Next encounter will be Drumreilly on weekend of Jun 3rd.
All County Reserve Leagues:
The Reserve leagues continue next weekend with Gortletteragh meeting Kiltubrid in Division 3 on Saturday 27th May at 7pm in Kiltubrid and the second team taking on St Mary's in Division 2 on Sunday at 1pm in Gortletteragh.
New Arrivals:
We are delighted to send our congratulations and welcome to the recent new arrivals in the parish. To Enda and Rachelle McHugh, Tulcon on the birth of their baby girl, Lily, to Caroline and Francie Carberry, Fearglass on the birth of their baby boy, Noah, to Colm and Carol Duffy, Breanross Sth/Dromod on the birth of their baby boy, Rían and to Helen and Sean Kennedy, Drumshambo South on the birth of their baby girl, Maddie.
